Description: Lot of 2 books, both 1853 hard cover books. Fern Leaves, some illustrations. One of the books, the brown one, has some spine cover damage, see photo, both have some wear from handling, binding is mostly tight, some spots on some of the pages. the blue copy has above the title on the title page "fifteen thousand" not sure what that means, it is not in the brown copy. also in the blue copy is the previous owners name in old hand and pencil their name on the cover page. 400 pages each. there was a newspaper article cut out inside the book that is an interview with the brother of the author explaining her writing process. not sure of the date on the article but it is old. ads on the back have no zip code so it's pre 1964. probably way earlier than that.
