Description: 2 Coin Silver Tablespoons MP. Maltby Pelletreau N.Y., SC ? Southern? This pair of Pelletreau spoons were probably made when he did business in New York at 12 Rose (1814-1818) but I could be wrong. I suggest if you are interested in South Carolina silver and have not bought, “Hidden Treasures: Re-Assessing South Carolina Silversmiths and Related Artisans to 1861” by Catherine B. Hollan, you should buy the book. It is huge, and very good, and an interesting read, even if you don’t collect SC silver. The spoons are marked [MP.] which is mark B in Cathy’s book. The monogram is EWS although I am not certain so please see the photos. They have considerable tip wear, evidently some right handed owners scraped the bottom of the bowl a bit to vigorously. They weigh a total of 3.26 troy oz or 101.4 grams and are approximately 8 3/4 inches long. SEE OUR STORE FOR MORE JEWELRY, SILVER, & COLLECTIBLES! Track Page Views WithAuctiva's FREE Counter
