Description: 3498-2024) Pair of Calf Creek Points one made of pink white Novaculite the larger one made of a tan gray color quartzite. The Novaculite specimen measures at 2 5/16” x 1 3/8” x 5/16” and has multiple stages of bifacial flaking with overshot horizontal transverse on each face followed by selective pressure flaking and punch basal notching with a slightly expanding stem. The basal margin is irregular due to rocking in the haft as the maker used it as a knife probably processing game animals. The tip has a worn apiculated spur while the stone matrix has a rich patinated and mineralized luster from river polish G5 Quality arrowhead. The larger Calf Creek measures at 2 ½” x 1 7/8” x 5/16” and has bifacial percussion followed by several stages of pressure flaking and basal punch notching resulting in straight stem with slight bifurcation. This is a heavily patinated and mineralized point with some river polish, G1-2 Quality, definitely is a good candidate for restoration by a professional like Dr Gomer. Both points were found on the same campsite located by a Ladonia, Texas resident in Fannin County while hunting her secret location on the North Sulphur River. The finder Patricia Kirkpatrick recently passed in 2022 and was in her 80s yet was active until her later years collecting artifacts and fossils along the Sulphur. Please Note: These points are being sold as a set of 2, we have no interest in separating them. We will properly protect these with bubble wrap, packing paper, and secure in a sturdy box for shipping and will likely double box for double protection.
