Description: Up for auction is a beautiful set of two covers mailed on consecutive fortnights from Ferdinand Maurath, a detainee in the concentration camp in Dachau Germany and was sent to Wilhelm Maurath in Lorrach Germany. Maurath was a priest imprisoned for anti Nazi activities from 1941 to 1945. What is very unusual about this cover is that it is on neutral envelope paper, most camp covers were preprinted with the camp rules on them. The government claimed dissidents like Maurath were being held in protective custody and thus were not subject to camp rules (though he could still only send one letter every other week). Very good item for a KZ collection. Note these are two covers in this lot. Dachau was the first nazi concentration camp and was the model on which all other concentration camps were built. Priced to sell. Postmarked June 9 and June 23 1943. For the serious collector of Judaica and Holocaust related philately this is an exceptional item. Cover is in excellent condition. Shipping will be a flat $4.00 within the continental U.S. for USPS mail with insurance. Overseas airmail shipping is $14.00. Insurance and registered mail fees included. Questions?
