Description: 19th CENTURY WEST AFRICAN BAULE CARVED WOOD ANCESTOR / SPIRIT SCULPTURE You are being offered an Early 19th Century West African Carved Wooden Ancestor or Spirit Sculpture. The Sculpture isn’t signed and it doesn’t have any identifying marks; but we believe it was Hand Carved during the Early 19th Century, circa 1800-1849, by the Baule People who inhabit Ghana and the Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in Western Africa. The Sculpture stands almost 18 inches high and it measures 3¾ inches wide from Side to Side and 4 inches deep from Front to Back. Aside from wear that’s consistent with being close to 200 years old, the Sculpture is in Very Good to Excellent Condition, without any chips or cracks and it has a Naturally Developed Patina.
