Description: Quite scarce 19th century oversized Jewelry case/box. All original. Pink/lavender interior, top and bottom, with a tufted top, gold accents and 11 compartments below. Measures The 11 3/4" X 8 3/4" X 5" tall. The bottom compartment section lifts off to show a large lower compartment for additional storage. The tufted area on top fans out to store additional items. Comes with locking mechanism but no key. One of the compartments has a mother of pearl lift off top and one has a mohair top. No musty smells or other issues. The hinges are strong and without issue. Minimal wear on the interior. The exterior box is a burled veneered with mother of pearl on the top and front. There are many mother of pearl pieces missing on the two side bands on top and one piece missing on the front by the lock. Also missing on the front and top are the bands of veneer on each side. Minor losses of veneer to the sides and back as well but minimal. The box is stable and, closes evenly and has plenty of use left. A fine addition to any collection.
