From sepia postcards of the 1930s and early '40s to Albertypes to Artvues to the various yellow postcard issuers to the 1950s Callahan cards to the metallic plaque renditions of the '80s, card enthusiasts have been well supplied with quality HoF collectibles. This card set of ten 19th century all-time greats ranks among the nicest. Individually Numbered ~ Large Format The popular Goodwin & Company cabinet cards were selected as the format for this 2001 colorized (by R. Ball) limited edition. Card size is 5" by 7" - perfectly suited to standard 2-pocket collector sheets. "National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum Cooperstown, New York" is imprinted upon card (front and back) while the back carries the player's name, a brief biography, copyright 2001 RBall, individual numbering (of 2,000) and a hoped-for promise: Series 1. (Unfortunately, to our knowledge, there was no succeeding series.) This is a strict limited edition of 2,000 sets - each card being uniquely numbered on the reverse side. Each player is pictured in his team's actual uniform colors as Mr. Ball brought to life 10 Old Judge N173 cabinet cards for this series. All were major leaguers of the day except for Kid Nichols who is pictured in his Omaha uniform, a club for whom he won 39 games in 1889 - earning promotion to the big leagues the following year where he won 27 games as a rookie! This is an important set - never to be reprinted. All cards in this set have been scanned but the buyer will receive a factory-sealed set.
