This painting is unsigned so we are unaware of the artist that painted it. The execution of the painting clearly demonstrates that this was done by a well schooled and most likely a highly regarded English watercolor painter of the mid 19th century It has that classic English romanticism feel as a couple strolls along through the landscape on a beautiful summer day. Up ahead on the road seems to possibly be a flock of sheep. The rendering of the surrounding distant landscape is well done as is the artists ability to capture the affect of light. The painting is unsigned. There is some inscription on the reverse in pencil stating “Evening by the K _ _ _ _ _?? But we cannot make out the last word. (See pic) Wonderfully framed in a gold gilded oak picture frame under glass. A gorgeous period English watercolor.
