Description: This is a beautiful example of a mid-19th century skewed filister plane. From the limited information that I could find, I was able to determine that David W. Cation was a New York City plane maker from 1837 to 1844. The maker's name is stamped on the front of the plane along with the user's initials(?).The plane is in excellent shape for its age and everything works. The fence is square to the body and the depth stop and adjustment thumbscrew work freely. The W Butcher iron is sharp and ready to use.
