Description: 19th Century Alcock Bone China Fragonard The Souvenir Floral 9 Inch Plate Antique British bone china porcelain plate with a scalloped edge. Has a central transfer scene of Fragonard's The Souvenir, with a woman in a Georgian gown carving her lover's initials into a tree while her pet spaniel watches her from a bench. This is surrounded by order hand painted in cream with pink and white flowers with bright green leaves & stem and cream leaves outlined in gold gilding, along with gold gilt leaves, the bottom of which extends into the white. With gold gilding along the scalloped edge. Unmarked. Made by Alcock. Has some usage marks consistent with age and quite a bit of wear to the gilding, especially around the edge and on the gilding over top the white section. No chips or cracks. Measures approximately 9 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. LX
