Description: Beautiful late19th century Spode neoclassical sprigged blue and buff stoneware 'Make-Do' teapot with staple repair handle. Features a matte blue base with cream 'Dancing Hours' relief band and floral swags. The handle has been repaired with a bolt and staple/ rivet. Base in impressed COPELAND ENGLAND 24, Measures 6" high to finial x 9 1/2" spout to handle and is in overall Excellent antique condition with the exception of the staple repair with glue residue, and small chip to underside of rim a shown. Spode produced Sprigged stoneware in the late1700s and then intermittently through to the 1930s. In the late 1800's Spode, under Copelands, began to make this type of ware in quantity again from about 1890-1910, and was produced again from the late 1920s to about 1938 when only the blue ground was reintroduced.
