His father, Ambroise Lalouette (1790-1843) was a cook, and his mother Marie Josephine Chartier, was born in 1804 and came from a very large family, and died very shortly before him in June 1883. Auguste Louis Lalouette enjoyed some success during his lifetime, producing a large number of statuettes, generally between 20 and 40 cm high. His favorite theme revolves around fencing. He sculpted talented swordsmen, fencers, and duelists mainly in the time of Henri III. While he enjoyed a certain amount of fame, it is really very curious that he does not appear in any catalogues listing the painters and sculptors of the time.
