Description: A fine example of a memorial badge for the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the oldest chartered military organization in the Western Hemisphere chartered in 1638,established as a military company to train young gentleman officers for service in the various militias of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This badge is cloaked in black silk, most likely used in a memorial service, with raised brass lettering, and probably dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The badge is in very good condition, with some minor border creases. Dimensions: 5 1/2” diameter.
