Description: From Wikipedia on The Bohemia Club: "The Bohemian Club is a private club with two locations: a city clubhouse in the Nob Hill district of San Francisco, California and the Bohemian Grove, a retreat north of the city in Sonoma County. Founded in 1872 from a regular meeting of journalists, artists, and musicians, it soon began to accept businessmen and entrepreneurs as permanent members, as well as offering temporary membership to university presidents (notably Berkeley and Stanford) and military commanders who were serving in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, the club has a membership of many local and global leaders, ranging from artists and musicians to businessmen.[citation needed] Membership is restricted to men only." The "Annals Of The Bohemian Club" are authored and produced by the club and includes articles, photographs, and activities of its members. They often have specific themes. I have come upon a small collection of Annals and will be listing them individually. Specifically, I have Volumes IV (published in 1930), V (1972), VII (1997), VIII (1997), and IX (2007). This listing is for Volume VIII. The spine has the traditional title, The Annals of the Bohemian Club, but the title page has a different title, The Visual Arts in Bohemia : 125 Years of Artistic Creativity in the Bohemian Club. LIMITED TO THIRTY-SIX HUNDRED COPIES, as identified on a colophon page shown after the last page of the book (not seen in listing photos). The editor is James Earl Jewell. This copy is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. It is a hardback with green cloth covered boards with a gilt decoration on the front board and gilt titling on the spine, 8x10.3 inches, xvi, 326 pages. The spine color has faded and the gilt a bit rubbed. The front board has an "exposed" strip on the top of the board, from storage very likely. This is a horizontal strip about 2 inches which is lighter than the rest of the front board. These are the main wear issues of the book. Boards otherwise with light edge and corner wear, interior pristine. The book contains color photos and a few B&W illustrations throughout, and describes artistic achievements and activities of the club during its 125 year of its existence. A VERY NICE COPY!
