As you are most likely aware, O-Pee-Chee was a sister set to the main Topps issue that was printed, marketed, and sold to the Canadian collector. These sister sets date back to the 1960s and carried on into the early 1990s until O-Pee-Chee spun off as an independent set entirely before being bought by Upper Deck in the early 2000s. The OPC sets typically featured the exact same design as the Topps sister set, but the checklist was around half as many cards. In 1986, the box you are bidding on, the total set was 396 cards compared to 792 for the Topps set. Despite having only half the checklist, most HoFers are featured in OPC. There is a lot of potential value locked away in these packs. Players like Don Mattingly, Roger Clemens, Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan, Rickey Henderson, and even guys like Darryl Strawberry will command nice $ if found in GEM-MT condition. If you can pull a Bonds GEM MT card, you're in for a huge payday. Note that while 1987 Topps was a notoriously difficult set to find cards that were GEM MT, OPC was a little less difficult. Centering will be a problem regardless of Topps or OPC, but the OPC were printed on a higher quality card stock that was less prone to chipping along the top black borders. As a collector myself, I much prefer the OPC and Tiffany issues of the 1980s due to the higher quality over the standard Topps set.
