In this auction, you will receive the following: Rare 1987 Private Press LP Record Connells "True Country" features "The Nashville Cats" SEALED Honkytonker Roger Connell and his son, Shawn Connell (1969-2020) were originally from around Fayetteville, North Carolina, performing together for several decades with their band Southern Pride, mostly local gigs in the Piedmont region. Roger Connell seems to have recorded some material earlier around 1982, though I think this disc from 1987 was the first record they made together as a father-son duo. They headed over to Tennessee to cut this album, with backing by Nashville cats including steel player Weldon Myrick and some younger players such as Randy James, Jimmy Young and Michael Young. The songs are all Roger Connell originals, and he definitely had a penchant for cheating songs, penning titles such as "There's Something Missing In Our Nights," "Lying Here, Lying Again," "I'm Locking Up My Memories For Tonight," and "My Heart Just Can't Take It Anymore." The production vibe is a bit slicker and more modern than I prefer, but it's country for sure. Not sure if they made other records, but the Connells performed together for years, playing local North Carolina gigs at least as recently as 2015-16. This record was available only for sale at their bar gigs.. This LP is from a Nashville, TN area DJ's collection that we have in climate controlled storage and have been selling out for a couple of years.. Included in the group are many rare radio promo LPs and many LPs that were still sealed.. LP is STILL SEALED!! Perfectly flat LP / appears excellent in every respect.. If you wish me to open any sealed LPs and play test them for heat damage and / or storage warp and/or also ultra sonic clean with TergiKleen, I will be happy to.. no real reason for this, as no records from this group have had issues, but I offer the option.. In the case of rare sealed albums, I must insist upon vinyl inspection for any warranty...... for the protection & good of both parties.. The condition of the generally well preserved cover is clearly shown. No seam splits... The worst cover flaws are shown.. This is the one you were looking for...
