1980 ABNC Souvenir Card SO13 Atchison Bank of the State of Kansas $3 1860s

Description: 1980 souvenir card printed by the American Bank Note Company in intaglio for Bank Note Reporter as a premium for subscribers. The card comes accompanied with a letter of thank you from BNR. Card measures about 8 1/2 inches by 10 5/8 inches. According to Heritage Auctions, based on information on the card, "In 1861 the state legislature changed the name of the Kansas Valley Bank to the Bank of the State of Kansas. After being out maneuvered for a National Bank charter, the stockholders voted to wind up the bank's business during the course of 1865-66. The $3 design features a large vignette of a herd of wild horses flanked by a smaller vignette of pigs and an oval female portrait." The souvenir card has the same overall green tint and a large green and white THREE protector as the original.
