Description: This listing is for a vintage 1976 Jewish pinback that says "JYC CAMPS 76". This pinback measures 2 1/4" across and is in very good condition. On the edge it is marked "HORN Co. PHILA. PA. 19126". Please see the photos for more details. Money-back guarantee. I found the following information at Temple University's website: Camps Arthur and Reeta were founded in 1926 in Zieglerville, PA and operated by the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association (YM-YWHA). Camps Arthur and Reeta were named after two prominent members of the Philadelphia Jewish Community, whose financial efforts acquired the land for the camp in 1925--Arthur Bloch and Reeta Gerstley. In 1965, the YM-YWHA and the Neighborhood Centre merged to form the Jewish Ys and Centers of Greater Philadelphia with the camps being collectively referred to as the JYC Camps. In 1985, the Jewish Y and Centers changes its name to the Jewish Community Centers (JCC) of Greater Philadelphia. In 1990, the separate camps merged into one camp. Renamed Camp Arthur-Reeta, it was designated as the official Jewish identity camp for the Greater Philadelphia Area by the Federation of Jewish Agencies. Camp Arthur-Reeta closed in 1995.
