19.75 FEET by 9.3 feet c 1880 Mural tapestry French hunting horse riding rider

Description: Welcome to The Textile Trunk ~ please follow us on Instagram, we are @textiletrunk Extraordinary Chateau find!~ this hand painted mural is French and was found in a large chateau in southern France and it dates from the late 1800's ~ c 1880. ~ This painting is on a wool, linen and cotton ground and painted ~ It has that certain indescribably je ne sais quoi that would make it a masterpiece hung on a wall as a tapestry!! It belongs to a set or three , to see the others in this collection, just search my store for the word hunting and they will appear! ~ This mural is the largest I've ever found in 25 years!~ This mural was positioned over a door so the right bottom corner is missing. The others are signed and I'm sure with more research it would become clear! It would be a fun project. This textile would add so much timeworn charm to any interior Measurements: This gorgeous wall hanging measures approximately 19.75 feet by 9.33 feet, it's massive!! CONDITION : This textile has faded with time unevenly in places ~ it's aged ground is lovely. There are water marks and the left facing bottom is damaged ( please see photographs) there is a tear at the top, nearly the middle ( photographed) and the bottom corner is missing. There are some small holes and the edges show wear. The original tacks are still in this painting, so please be careful when opening. I love leaving original hardware attached when possible. There are some very small holes dotted about ~ This textile is beautifully timeworn, ideal only for someone that adores the signs of time and use often inherent in antique textiles.
