Children - Adopted. Tacoma, Washington. A seven month battle to clear his name after being accidentally and erroneously labeled a drug user ended here Tuesday as Staff Sergeant Donald L. Fryer and his wife Dolores met their adopted Vietnamese-American son. Although the Army admitted and tried to correct its mistake, it took direct presidential action to clear away the red tape to allow the adoption. The Fryers named the four-year-old David Mathew after the biblical names for strength and love. Sergeant Fryer spent 33 months in Vietnam and was awarded two bronze stars and two Army Commendation medals for his work in personnel and with orphanages.Photo measures 7.75 x 9.75inches.
