There are inset plans of Johnson City, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, Jackson, and Smoky Mountains National Park. The map was published by the Tennessee Department of Highways in February 1971 and is dated on the cover. The photo on the front cover shows I-40 crossing the Tennessee River west of Nashville. There are photos of the Governor and Highway Commissioner on the rear cover.
