ARTIST: DON ACETO (Mid 20th Century, PLAYA DEL REY - CALIFORNIA) Quote gotten from internet. "Don Aceto was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After Graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy, was trained in electronics and saw action during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he picked up his education and went to both "M.I.T." and "The Art Institute of Boston." When America's Space Program moved into high gear he was recruited to be part of the Saturn Missile Project creating some of the first realistic renderings of space flight and moon landings under the directorship of Werner Von Braun. His services for the defense department earned a commendation from President Lyndon Johnson. Found from the Internet; In addition to his art career which has been extensive, Don also has been successful in business as a hair stylist and owner of the original "Razor Edge" Salon in Playa Del Rey, Ca. He has also been a television color consultant in Hollywood. This he did along with his creating a new and whimsical style of painting that grew out of the days as the artist that drew the nationally syndicated comic strip "Bringing Up Father". This was followed by joining Walt Disney Productions as an animator. He next went on to become one of the original artists on the Sesame Street Television Series. This led to his being commissioned to create the Official World's Fair Coloring Book "Kids Around The World for the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tenn. His work has been published in many national magazines and publications. Don's paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Miami, have hung in the Smithsonian Institute and he has been the recipient of a gold medal in the annual "International Fine Arts Competition" in Las Vegas, Nevada. At present, his work is still being extensively exhibited in the United States and Europe and in the past few years can now be found in the Art Auction Market. In a career that has spanned fifty years, the body of work is diverse and ever evolving. For the past decade Don has been living in Palm Springs, California.
