Georges Dumezil was a French philologist, linguist and religious studies scholar who specialised in comparative linguistics and mythology. Volume I of this set begins with laying out preliminary remarks about the potential contradictions and established evidence used in such arguments of the topics. Dumezil then goes on to discuss Ancient Theology, with focuses on The Capitoline Triad, public worship, frameworks and the functions of religion.Volume II discusses the 'Extensions and Mutations' of Ancient Roman religion, such as the Gods of the Merchants and religion during the Second Punic War. Dumezil also touches on the existence of private cults. CONDITION In the original cloth bindings, in the slipcase. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear.
