1969 Other Makes Bonanza

Description: For those of you who know what you are looking at,,,,,, this bike being a Bonanza BC 1500SH which comes from the factory with the 100cc Hodaka ACE 100 engine,,, this is a bike that doesn't come up for sale very often. Moreover, to find a 1500SH that has survived the last 55+ years in its unrestored condition with its original Hodaka engine in addition to all of its key components is even more rare. This is such a bike. A few years ago, I purchased this bike from a friend and fellow Bonanza collector in the great state of Ohio who got a tip on this bike from a friend. He negotiated the purchase and because I was local to the seller he asked me to take possession of the bike until he could arrange transportation back to Ohio, which I did. The seller showed up with the bike in the back seat of his very spacious 70's sedan. He had purchased the bike decades ago out of Indiana. The State issued Dept of Motor Vehicles decal from Indiana is still on the front fender. Other than missing rubber on the foot pegs, incorrect gas cap and kill switch, a crack in the front light bulb, a missing rear light lense and a small tear in the rear of the seat the bike was all there. The bike never made it to Ohio. In the process of closely inspecting the bike, the extremely high level of originality became apparent. Original engine (E4724), exhaust, gas tank, seat, shocks, wheels, tires, lights, jackshaft, sprockets, brake assembly, throttle, levers and wiring. Recognizing that the bike should not be restored but instead cleaned up and made mechanically sound and drivable I persuaded my friend to sell me the bike. I needed something to work on and he kindly made a deal with me. The engine has been completely rebuilt (top end and both the transmission and kick start sides) and runs like an ACE 100 should. Strictly Hodaka provided most of the parts. A new ignition coil was used. New kill switch. New rubber for shift lever and kicker. Carb was rebuilt and adjusted. The small seat tear was repaired, the front light bulb, rear light lense and clutch lever and cable were replaced. The wires to the rear brake switch for the rear light are there but not hooked up. The gas tank was cleaned and sealed with the best, Caswell Tank Sealer. The bike has been driven a number of times and will impress with its power carrying a 180lb driver like me. There is no title.
