Description: IF VIEWING ON A MOBILE DEVICE: Click on See Full Description to view full text and all pics, many given. 1969 MCM GREAT GREY OWL San Francisco Bernd Kroeber LINO CUT #'d PRINT pncl sgnd Click images to enlarge Description A large linoleum cut block print of "The Great Grey Owl" perched in a tree on a hilly street in San Francisco by noted German/American artist Bernd Kroeber (b.1942- Germany). Artist pencil signed Bernd Kroeber, dated 1969 and numbered 14/300 on print, titled on the dustcover back. Dated 1969 on print, 1970 on dustcover. Artist Bernd Kroeber came to the Unuited States in the late 1960's settling in San Francisco circa 1967 and establishing his gallery OTA during this time. The gallery was closed around 1972, he continued with his art career and began teaching as well. He is known for his monoprints and strong graphics in the single pass block prints. This is a large block print on what appears to be a handmade fibrous paper similar to paper used in the Japanese woodblock tradition. A powerful mid-century Great Grey Owl portrait. General paper age related toning against non acid free mats, a few small foxing spots. I have shown the worst in detail pics, they are minimal really. No folds, holes or tears. Old tape on back edge of print which was not quite dried out enough from age to come off easily. Will never be seen when matted/framed. I cut out the back dustcover with title, date and San Francisco address to send also. Pencil signed artist name, date and number is a bit faint to my eye, possibly faded. Paper measures approx. 18-1/2" x 24-1/2", print image 15" x 20-1/2". Impressive Great Grey Owl art print among the hilly San Francisco streets and roof tops. 1960's Era and has aura of the 60's !!
