Description: Handsome large-format fold-out 1968 map of Southeast Asia, printed more than 55 years ago. This map opens to 26½" x 33½" and is drawn on a scale of 94.7 miles to the inch. It shows railways, roads, canals, oil pipelines, cities, towns, and natural features in excellent detail. The coverage area extends from Formosa to the Timor Sea, between the Andaman Islands and western New Guinea, including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Taiwan (Formosa). The map was printed during the Vietnam War — one month after the conclusion of Operation Rolling Thunder and one month before Richard M. Nixon took office as the President of the United States. It was published by the National Geographic Society in December 1968 as a supplement to The National Geographic Magazine. Condition: It is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.
