Description: This is a classic 1968 3-speed bike that has been refurbished and updated. It was stripped to bare metal and painted a beautiful white color with champagne sparkle effect. There are a few scratches and blemishes, but because of the white basecoat they are not very obvious. The original chainguard and fenders have been painted the same color. They are not installed, but are included with the bike. The original Dunelt headbadge is no longer present, and there are holes on the frame where the rivets attaching it were. The original rear hub has been replaced. It was originally a Sturmey Archer coaster brake hub dated 1968, but was replaced with a 1970 Sturmey Archer freewheel hub from a 1970 Phillips 3-Speed. The original cottered crank was updated to a modern square spindle 3-piece crank. This was done properly by replacing the loose cup bearings with those of proper size. Pedals are nice MKS Sylvan touring pedals. Saddle was replaced with a nice light brown padded seat. Grips are cork, one of them is cracked, the other is fine. All cables are new. Tubes are new. The tires are original 1960's Dunlop Champions (the best tires in our opinion)! There is cracking in the rubber as you'd expect, but didn't stop us from riding them. They looked too cool to replace them. All other parts are original. There is some shellaced twine treatment on the original North Road handlebars. This is a very cool bike. Sad to let go after all of these years, but we are in the downsizing stage of life. This bike was well-loved. It was ridden around the neighborhood often. It was always kept indoors and cleaned regularly. Thank you for considering adopting it.
