1967 Beatle Peace to Monterey Concert Poster Limited Edition Lithograph

Description: For sale is a Limited-Edition Lithograph of the 1967 Beatles Peace to Monterey Concert Poster drawn by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The piece is very rare as only 100 Limited Edition were made with this being number 65 of 100. It was printed on high quality thick paper and measures approximately 13 3/4" x 9". The original matting also is included but it is not connected to the piece if you desire to not frame such a large piece. The history of the piece is fascinating. 'The Summer of Love' the Monterey Festival, held 16th, 17th, 18th of June 1967, was the first widely promoted rock festival. The Beatles submitted the hand-drawn artwork to Tom Wilkes, the festival art and promotion director and paid $1500 for it to be included in the festival program. The original art then disappeared and was not seen by the public again until the British auction house Bonhams included it at auction on January 15, 2008 with a reserve of $350,000. It was consigned by Tom Wilkes. Given the high estimate, there were also produced 100 lithographs that were offered in connection with the auction for $10,000 a piece. The printer of the limited edition and others associated with it were paid with some of the limited edition to sell after the initial sale. The original artwork failed to reach the reserve and very few of the limited editions were sold. It reappeared in 2015 when it was sold by a record store in Los Angeles for $175,000. I acquired this copy of the Limited Edition from the printer of the Limited Edition at an estate auction. He still had the original paperwork for another copy which I was unable to acquire.
