Washington - Highway Bridge Destroyed - This bridge in North Viet Nam, the Thanh Yen highway bridge, was destroyed in a U.S. bombing mission on April 13. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara displayed this photo at a news conference in Washington today. The defense department said this bridge 520 feet long, was used by military convoys moving south. It consisted of eight spans. Two were destroyed. One pier was destroyed and disappeared beneath the river. Other spans were damaged. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 04-13-1965.
