The course is ap-proximately 150 miles long with much ofit located in tall coastal hills along ridge-top fire trails, through stream beds andacross sandy roads in open rangeland. Itis spectacular and scenic, albeit a severetest of rider condition and motorcycle fit-ness, it can be a picturesque ride.Such was the 1965 edition—weather wasmostly clear, warm in the valleys cold andsometimes foggy on the ridges. Wintergear was the order of the day.A large part of the Hi Mountain En-duro traverses U. S. Forest Service lands,and from year to year regulations becomemore stringent. Every motorcycle had tobe equipped with a spark arrester thisyear — which is good practice in brushyforest lands forming valuable water sheds,and ridel's are perfectly willing to com-ply. To make sure.
