A radio play preceded this as 'A girl in the spotlight' in 1961. Julian Maclaren Ross was a British novelist, short story writer and literary critic. His often witty and incisive prose found increasing favour after his untimely death in 1964 aged only 52. He was the model for X. Trapnel in Powell's Dance to the Music of Time.Ross often wrote about his impoverished early life, and indeed his similarly impoverished later life spent swirling around the literary watering holes of Fitzrovia and Soho. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally lovely with some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With a previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
