Description: Handsome fold-out 1963 Esso road map of New Jersey, printed more than 60 years ago. This map opens to 32½" x 18" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company. There are inset plans of Atlantic City and the Camden-Philadelphia area. On the reverse side there is a road map of northeast New Jersey and adjacent New York, with inset plans of Newark and Trenton. The map was published by the Humble Oil & Refining Company to promote its Esso brand and is dated November 1963 in the legend. The code on the back cover is W1063. The artwork on the front shows a scene from a film produced by Humble titled The Land Called New Jersey. This 28½-minute 16 mm sound-color motion picture was produced to complement New Jersey's tercentennial celebration 1664-1964. The back cover text includes a list of sites in the film, keyed to their locations on the map. It also shows the Unisphere, symbol of the 1964-1965 World's Fair at Flushing Meadow, Long Island, New York.
