A clever Apache chief is outsmarted by a young Army doctor in true Death Valley Days story, "The White Healer." When Lt. Wood (Lee Philips), a young Cavalry doctor heals Hamaz, an Apache scout (Allen Jaffe) of the plague, he convinces Gen. Miles (Harry Holcombe) to set the Indian free, even though Capt. Magruder (Tom Coley) disapproves. Leaving the camp, Hamaz is told that "the white healer" will help his people only if their chief, Geronimo (Joe Bassett) surrenders. Wa-tua (Maria Barto), Geronimo's wife, falls ill with the plague, and finally, Hamaz is sent for the doctor. Lt. Wood heals Wa-tua, but when Geronimo, true to his word, decides to surrender, Chappo ( Joe Lo Presti), a sub-chief, incites rebellion. Wood is sent away, but manages to return and rescue Geronimo, who goes to his people, proves he is the better chief and tells them he is surrendering.
