If you use your personal actual measurements, you should always figure needing two inches extra for breathing room. Label- A union made label in the skirt. A Cohama paper tag. Cohama was the company that made the fabric. Closes with a metal zipper on the skirt. The top has pink plastic buttons Fabric is a medium to light weight dacron polyester and cotton blend. Unlined. ConditionNo stains, holes, or tears. I did not wash this set. It still has that fresh off the rack fabric stiffness. It did have a few spots that came off easily with a little bit of water and a towel. This would have been considered fast fashion in the 60s. It is not lined and it was sewn quickly. But, even then, compared to fast fashion of today, this is very well made. Keeping the pink top thread on the straight is the sign of a skilled seamstress. The dacron poly is a strong fabric, but I would treat this set gently, because once it is washed, the fabric will soften up. I would hand wash or machine wash on gentle. What Diane Likes About This OutfitThis set is what I would call a cusper. The early 60s, were quite conservative and looked a lot like the 50s. It was not until the later 60s that one of the most drastic shifts in fashion occurred. I can imagine a scenario where a company ordered a huge supply of this olive green fabric. Perhaps they were envisioning making lots of shirtwaist dresses, which a fabric like this would have been perfect for. Then, WHAM! The mod and hippie movement hit the fashion scene like a tornado. Gone were the visions of shirtwaist dresses, but all that fabric remained. I can imagine the bosses foreshadowing Tim Gunn in a "Make It Work" moment. It was a little stroke of fashion genius to add the pink accents. And the designer went all out, adding just the right amount of topstitching and accents to pull this olive into the mainstream. It was a perfect look for the consumer who wanted to to experiment, but still remain conservative. Today, I think of the pink as a stepping stone to push this set even further. This set is a lighter weight, but it can be made warmer with tights and a blouse. Once the pink was introduced, all the other colors can be invited in as well. I think this is a set begging for a clever and creative eye. “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn.” Gore Vidal "The only rule is not to be boring."
