Description: PCGS 195X-D Franklin half double-denomination struck on a Roosevelt dime. The Franklin half is overstruck on a silver Roosevelt dime, and is both the weight and metal of a silver dime, and with much of the half dollar's outer design and lettering missing due to the much smaller size of the dime planchet. The small size of the coin gives the double-denomination great eye-appeal! There is design detail of Roosevelt visible on the half dollar's obverse, and also on the reverse. It is easily seen on the obverse, with the underlying design strongest on the coin's obverse, but also with portions of the dime clearly visible on the reverse. This is one of just 3 known Franklin half double-denomination on Roosevelt dimes, and is also a tie for finest known as an MS64. It is additionally, the oldest dated example, with the other two specimens being a no-date in AU, and a 1962 dated example grading MS64. This coin presents a rare opportunity to own a 60c Franklin half, and it is unlikely another example will be on the market for many years after this coin sales. PCGS MS64 with lustrous surfaces. The coin has a hint of light gold toning, and overall beautiful surfaces.
