Description: Superb 1959 E. H. Roth 9R (IX-R) violin patterned after the 1732 Guarneri Del Gesu model. Recently received an excellent full setup (at a cost of $700) which included a new bridge, new nut, new soundpost, fingerboard planing, peg adjustment. This violin plays beautifully.The sound of this violin is remarkable. It has a very full, loud, and colorful voice that tends toward the darker, warmer end of the spectrum. It plays evenly across the strings and up the neck. It compares quite well against Roth violins from the 1920s and 1930s.
