BIOGRAPHIES: Milton “Shorty” Rogers (1924–1994),was one of the principal creators of West Coast jazz. He played both the trumpet and flugelhorn, and was in demand for his skills as an arranger. Rogers worked first as a professional musician with Will Bradley, Gerry Mulligan, Red Norvo, Charlie Mingus and Thelonious Monk. Laurindo Almeida (1917-1995) was a Brazilian classical guitarist. He joined Stan Kenton's band during the height of its success in the 1940s, In 1953 he recorded, with Bud Shank, two albums called Brazilliance for the World Pacific label. He also perfomed with Charlie Mingus, Stan Getz, Hank Jones and Herbie Mann. Jack Costanzo (b. 1922) is an American percussionist. He is best known as a bongo player and performed regularly with Stan Kenton, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Perez Prado, Xavier Cugat and Frank Snatra. Costanzo formed his own band in the 1950s which recorded and toured internationally. Milt Bernhart (1926-2004) was a West Coast jazz trombonist who worked with Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, among others. Eddie Bert (b. 1922) is a bebop jazz trombonist who perfomed regularly with Red Norvo, Charlie Mingus, Milt Jackson, Thelonoius Monk, Hank Jones and Stan Kenton. He also recorded extensively as a leader on various labels, including Savoy Records, Trans-World, Jazztone, and Discovery Records. Pete Rugolo (b. 1915) is a jazz composer and arranger. He performed with Stan Kenton, Peggy Lee and Billy Eckstine. In the 1960s and 1970s he went on to compose original scores for popular shows including Leave It to Beaver, Thriller, The Fugitive, Run For Your Life, The Challengers, and Family. Bob Fitzpatrick - Was trombonist for the Stan Kenton Orchestra Bill Holman (b. 1927), is an American songwriter, conductor, composer/arranger, and saxophonist working. Holman is best known as an arranger and worked regularly with Gerry Mulligan and Thelonious Monk. He also performed tenor sax player for Stan Kenton Orchestra.
