Danish clockmaker Jens Olsen spent his life's spare time working on this amazing astronomical clock. The clock has 11 connected works. Ten have dials. The 11th is the "master" and has no dial. It is divided into three main sections. Center section shows mean time and sidereal time and contains the clock's main calendar. The left hand section dials show (upper) local time, true solar time, and equation of time; (left) time everywhere in the world; (right) sunrise and sunset by mean time as well as by true solar time, and (bottom) the Gregorian calendar indicating day of the week, date, month, and year. The right hand section dials show (upper) the appearance of the stellar heavens and the motion of the celestial pole; (left) the geocentric revolution; (right) the heliocentric revolution, and (bottom) the Julian day and year numbers.Photo measures 9.25 x 7inches.
