From Wikipedia Belton Cobb , born Geoffrey Belton Cobb on July 10 , 1892 at Tunbridge Wells in Kent and passed away on August 15 , 1971 , is a British crime novel writer.He signed his works Belton Cobb, and sometimes G. Belton Cobb. Prior to the Second World War , he was Sales Director at London's Longman . He also worked as a journalist and was a regular contributor to Punch . He published a first novel in 1916, then a second in 1927, without attracting attention. Nine years later, in 1936, he decided to publish a first detective novel, No Alibi , where inspector Cheviot Burmann appeared, a bloodhound with exceptional flair that will return in more than thirty titles. Then a series of six books were written between 1947 and 1950 without great success that featured Inspector Manning. Later, in the 1960s , stories featuring the young Bryan Armitage, a friend of Cheviot Burmann.
