Description: 1955 Press Photo Friar Tuck's church in Sherwood Forest, England - mjx32616 This is an original press photo. Steetley, Nottinghamshire, Eng. The tiny church in which Robin Hood and his merry men attended the services of Friar Tuck is one of the finest miniature examples of Norman architecture in existence. In the heart of Sherwood Forest, the little church was abandoned in the 18th Century and almost forgotten. For a time it was uses as a sheep fold. Currently, the Bishop of Derby, Dr. A. E. J. Rawlinson, is conducting a campaign to raise funds for the completion of Steetley Church's restoration. The project was actually begun in the 1890's.
