Description: Maker: A wonderful fine porcelain platter, done to perfection by the legendary Danish firm Royal Copenhagen. Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 and in 1888 was purchased by the Aluminia faience company, which was founded in 1863. Porcelain continued to be produced under both the Royal Copenhagen and Aluminia names. The Aluminia brand was retired in 1969. Design: This pattern - called Tranquebar Blue - features blue geometric bands and a bold blue tulip at the center. Age and marks: Tranquebar Blue was produced for almost 100 years - from 1912 to 2003 - and a variety of marks were used. This platter has an Aluminia mark that dates it to 1952, making it 71 years old. Size: It's 15 inches long, 10 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall. It weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces. Condition: It has no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, repairs or wear. There is light discoloration in some spots and faint crazing on both sides - it's highlighted in the photos with the red arrow and can also be seen by enlarging the other photos. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
