1950s Lockheed T-33 Airplane Photo Gum Card American Chewing Products like Topps

Description: I have to admit that this card is a bit of a mystery to me. It was issued by the American Chewing Products Corp. of Newark New Jersey (a company I am unfamiliar with) and was printed in the U.S.A. when I first came across it on first glance I though it was one of the R-714-27 Topps Hocus Pocus Magic Photo’s. However once I picked up the card and did a closer look the difference became apparent. The front is similar to the Topps set in that they were issued blank and then could be “magically” developed by rubbing the front with a wet tissue and the picture would appear before your eyes. However the unlike the Topps series the back is written in English, French and what I believe is Spanish. The back identifies the company and gives instructions as to how to develop the card. The subject matter is different from the Topps series as well. The cards I have found feature “photos” of Steam Trains , Ocean Liners, Military Planes, and world landmarks. It also appears to have been attached by perforations to other cards at some time, as you can see remnants of the perforations at the edge. This card is titled Fighter 84 and features a Lockheed T-33 Jet Airplane I am assuming that these were inserted with Gum largely due to the company name. I have not been able to find this series listed in any reference guide that I am aware of nor have I been able to find a definitive date of issue. However I speculate that they were issued sometime in the 1940’s-1950’s era based on the subject matter. The Card measures 1 7/16 inches by 7/8 of an inch approximately. This one is free from creasing. I scanned the card fairly large, both front and back, for you to be able to judge the condition for yourself. I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories), including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Cigarettes , Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities, Dog Breeds, Circus themes and many more.
