Description: "RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER" FRAME-TRAY INLAID PICTURE PUZZLE - (c) 1950 Robert L. May / Jaymar Specialty Co. 14" x 11". Color litho on cardboard. Artwork was inspired by the 1948 animated "Rudolph" cartoon produced & directed by Max Fleischer. The short film was based on the 1939 Robert L. May poem (rather than the song). It was originally created to advertise Montgomery Ward department stores. Rudolph is pictured sporting his "Commander in Chief" medallion (as seen at the end on the cartoon). Max Fleischer was best known for his BETTY BOOP, POPEYE and SUPERMAN cartoons of the 1930s and early 1940s. A very displayable example with excellent eye appeal. Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate surface/edge scuffing with scattered litho paper loss, mainly on frame-tray edging. Mild cardboard creasing with no tears or taping on pieces. Colors and imagery are still bold, bright and attractive. Puzzle is complete. Overall, we feel this jigsaw is still in very displayable condition by most standards (see photos). It would make an impressive find for the MAX FLEISCHER, CHRISTMAS and/or VINTAGE CHARACTER PUZZLE MEMORABILIA enthusiast. On a condition code scale of 1 to 10, the above listed item(s) rated - (7-6).
