Description: 1949 Egypt Fifty Pounds Banknote Pick Number 26a Signature Leith-Ross PMG 20 Very Fine Currency Note For Your Egypt or World Currency Collection-PCU1792* Details Description: A beautiful very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the November 1, 1949 fifty pounds. The banknote is green and brown on the front. It has the image of King Farouk the first in a circular frame to the right and a green colored ancient Egyptian temple to the left. The note is written in Arabic on the front with the serial number being in both Arabic and English. The back of the note is green in color and depicts the image of the mosque and mausoleum of the Mamluk Sultan Q'atibay. The back is written in English and shows the name of the National Bank of Egypt and the denomination both in numerals and spelled out. The note has a watermark showing the head of the Sphinx. This particular note has the serial number 050550 (which we like very much) and is series EF/1. The note was issued by the National Bank of Egypt and is signed by F. W. Leith-Ross, who was the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scan provided as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 1 November 1949, representing the first issue of the type. Printer: Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. of New Malden, Surrey, England. Size: The banknote measures ~7 1/2" by ~4". Pick Number: P26a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B126a. Condition: The note is graded as very fine 20 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The note has some graffiti on the front and back which is noted on the holder. It also has a small oval stamp in the right margin of the back. The note is soiled, has a few small stains and vertical and horizontal folds. The edge shows roughness and nicks especially at the ends of the folds.
