In the wake of charges by Robert Ruark, Scripps-Howard Communist, that Lt. General John C. Lee, Army Commander in the Mediterranean Theater, has allowed officers excessive privileges, while failing to provide even minor comforts fro enlisted men, correspondents have been invited to tour installations in General Lee's command. These photos made by Acme Staff Correspondent Julius Humi show the highlights of the tour at the army Disciplinary Training Camp in the Leghorn area. All photos were made with the permission of army authorities, and all means of identifying army prisoners have been obliterated, in accordance with the Army's request. General Lee's command is being investigated by the army. One of the four officer prisoners sits on his cot in his quarters. Each has a room and they are fairly comfortable. They are confined to their rooms except for three 15 minute walking periods each day. officer prisoners are allowed to smoke and to receive mail and reading matter. Most of them were convicted for misuse of government property.Photo measures 7 x 9.25 inches. Photo is dated 8-24-1947.   PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: nem62485 FAQsQ: Can I just download a digital version instead?A: No, we sell only vintage originals and do not make or distribute any copies, including digital ones. Q: Do you combine shipping and invoices? A: Multiple photos won on the same seller ID combine automatically through the eBay checkout process. If you encounter problems with this, send us a message via eBay messaging and we will send you an invoice. Due to eBay limitations, we cannot combine items won on our different seller IDs for a single shipping charge. Q: How quickly do you ship the items once paid? A: We ship within one business day after your payment clears. If you do not receive an "order shipped" email from us by the close of the second business day from submitting payment, please e-mail us via eBay messaging. Q: How do you make sure my photograph arrives safely? A: We package each order between two cross-corrugated pieces of cardboard to ensure that the package is as difficult to bend as possible. We then wrap each order in a plastic sheet to help protect against moisture. We want you to rest assured that we take every precaution to ensure that the photograph you receive will be in the same condition in your care as it was in ours. Q: Will the "Historic Images" watermark be on my photo when I receive it? A: No. This is a digital watermark we use to protect our images. It is not printed on the photo. A: These original vintage photographs are from various news service and newspaper photo archives from locations around the country including: Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Portland, Spokane, and more. We do not copy or reproduce any photographs -- every item is a unique vintage piece that was housed in a news archive. Q: Can I use this photograph in my book/blog/website? A: The short answer is no. There is no transfer of copyright for republication or reproduction with these photographs when you purchase them, and only photographs taken before 1923 are currently automatically in the public domain. Permission from the copyright holder, which usually can be identified from the back of each photo, must be sought to republish or reproduce the image for any purpose. A: Auction items that receive no bids are relisted in our store (historicimages-store on eBay) as a fixed-price item and at a higher price than the starting auction price. Q: Do you leave feedback? A: Yes, we always leave feedback for buyers. Our software monitors when our buyers leave us feedback, then notifies us that we can leave feedback for the buyer.
