Roosevelt in Rose Garden Roosevelt tombstone. Here is a sketch of the tombstone that will be erected on the Rose Garden grave of the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt at Hyde Park. Plans for the tombstone were drawn up by President Roosevelt, who expressed the wish that his wife be buried alongside him, in December, 1937. The stone is 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 3 feet tall. It is set on a marble base extending 2 feet out from the monument all around. The inscription, on the south side of the stone, reads simply: Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1882 - 1945, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, 1884-19___. The plain white marble monument has no carving, no decoration, and follows explicitly the President's instructions. Photo measures 10.5 x 8.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1945.
