Description: Offered is the 1945 Year Book of the Jockey's Community Fund and Guild of New York. The book contains many sections with information on jockeys and horse racing, including a membership roster of the Guild and a page devoted to each of many of the best horses of the time, with photos, including Horse of the Year "Twilight Tear". Also included are photos and brief biographies of dozens of jockeys of the period, including Eddie Arcaro, Ted Atkinson, J. Dean Jessop and Don Meade. There are many ads for racetracks and also for horses available for stud service, with photos. This is a rare find; at the time of original listing I could only find one other copy for sale on eBay and none elsewhere. The book is approx.11 1/4" x 8 3/4" and contains 160 pages. It is in good condition. The brown hard cover has light to moderate wear, mainly at the top and bottom of the spine and along the spine and edges. There is a small bit of the surface missing at the top of the spine, as shown. The gold words on the spine have faded but the gold picture on the front is still partially shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The orange endpapers have faded somewhat and there is a gift inscription written inside the front cover. I see no missing pages and I see only one page with a tear, on the last page. All of the pages are well-attached to the binding. They have yellowed and there is some light foxing but are mostly clean and clear. I see no writing in the book except for that already noted. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
