Surface noise not overly pronounced V = Moderate, even wear, very playable. Surface noise audible but not bothersome V- = Quite playable, there is surface noise but it is well below music level. There is some distortion from wear and the record may have scratches My 78s are very well packaged using thick cardboard and bubble wrap to enclose the record which is then floated in packing peanuts inside an outer box.
