Description: 1942 Press Photo Drawing of Edith Cavell, British Nurse, Executed by Germans This is an original press photo. The valiant Edith Cavell, heroic English nurse, was executed in Belgium by the Germans as a "spy" in 1915. She was found guilty of helping British prisoners of war escape. Sympathy was her motive. Drawing above, from book, "Noble Woman." by Protneroe, London Epworth Press publishers, shows her being led to execution. Her last words were "I realize that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness for anyone." Photo measures 7.25 x 11.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-10-1942. Part Number: mjc42771 Please look at the images below carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us.  A scanner may see a photograph differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person.
