Description: First Edition, published by Bobbs-Merrill in 1942, NICELY INSCRIBED TO G.E. WYATT (Guy E. Wyatt) BY AUTHOR LEWIS N. COTLOW. This signature was on the free endpaper leaf before the half-title page leaf; opposite this behind the endpaper leaf was affixed a photo of the author. The photo was on thin glossy paper - heavier than magazine glossy paper, possibly thin photographic paper. Clean orange/red cloth with rubbed embossed gilt front cover lettering and further rubbed spine gilt letters. Light corner and top/bottom spine edge wear, darkened page tops, map endpapers, no further marks in 298 pages. The flaps of the original dust jacket were clipped and glued to back free endpaper. Maps and glossy photos and plates in the book. After attending George Washington University he made more than 30 expeditions travelled to Africa, South America, Indonesia, and the Arctic, the Amazon, Australia, and New Guinea from 1930s - 1950s to film. His first technicolor movie was filmed on location in Africa and was co-produced with a man called Armand Dennis (a wildlife photographer) In his lifetime, he was awarded the Explorers Club Medal and Order of Magellan and was a member of The Explorers Club.
